A widely shared social media post claims that Hon. Chernor Maju Bah, also known as Chericoco, currently serves as Vice President of the International Criminal Court (ICC). However, SLENA has thoroughly investigated this claim and found it to be false. To confirm, SLENA directly contacted Hon. Bah, who stated that the claim is inaccurate. Additionally, desk research verified the current ICC leadership composition.

According to the ICC’s official structure, the Presidency is comprised of a President and two Vice Presidents (First and Second), who are elected by an absolute majority of the Court’s Judges for a three-year term. The current ICC Vice Presidents are Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala (First Vice President) and Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou (Second Vice President), while Judge Tomoko Akane serves as President. This leadership team was elected in March 2024, with terms extending through 2027.

Hon. Chernor Bah, commonly referred to as Chericoco, is a prominent figure in Sierra Leonean politics and served as the Vice Presidential candidate for the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in the 2018 and 2023 elections. In Parliament, he held significant roles, including as Leader of the Opposition Party from 2018 to 2023, following his previous position as Deputy Speaker.

This fact-check confirms that Hon. Chernor Maju Bah holds no official position with the ICC, debunking the viral misinformation.
