Internal Affairs Minister Receives IPCB Investigative Report on Kailahun Bike Rider Death

Freetown, July 24 (SLENA)-The Minister Internal Affairs Rtd. AIG Morie Lengor Esq. received Independent Police Complaint Board (IPCB) investigation report concerning June 21, 2026, Kailahun incident resulting bike rider death and subsequent partial burning police barracks.

IPCB Chairman Mr. Saa Kpulum presented report during Ministry headquarters meeting Gloucester Street, Freetown, following independent investigation completion.

Chairman Kpulum stated Board launched investigation following reports indicating bike riders' union member death triggered Kailahun unrest, leading youth vandalism police barracks and residential quarters. IPCB investigation team deployed Kailahun June 22 with Ministry Internal Affairs support, conducting independent inquiry per Board legal mandate.

Mr. Kpulum underscored thorough impartial investigations into reported police action cases, noting such processes ensure public confidence and accountability. He announced report findings would receive public presentation Kailahun, incident location, expressing appreciation Minister facilitating investigation.

Receiving report, Minister Lengor assured IPCB Ministry would carefully study findings and take appropriate action where necessary. He reaffirmed Ministry commitment promoting professionalism, accountability, objective investigations concerning public safety security matters.
