MAFS, MBSSE Celebrate Young Champions at 2nd World Food Prize Youth Institute.

Sixteen pupils nationwide showcased innovative food system transformation solutions duringthe the the Secondof the Edition of the Sierra Leone World Food Prize Youth Institute 2026.

Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), partnership Ministry Basic Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), hosted event Country Lodge Hotel Freetown.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, keynote address, lauded pupils creativity brilliance. He cited Borlaug Scholars Nancy Koyema and Joseph Moripeh, representing Sierra Leone World Food Prize Foundation's DialogueNEXT and Kenya Youth Institute Nairobi June 2026, as youth excellence examples.

Dr. Kpaka urged participants leveraging Youth Institute opportunities developing agriculture food system innovations, noting initiative aligns President Julius Maada Bio's vision empowering youth advancing Feed Salone.

Basic Senior Secondary Education Minister Hon. Conrad Sackey said presentations reflect education investment impact. Njala University Vice Chancellor Prof. Bashiru Koroma said Institute enables youth identifying challenges, gathering evidence, proposing change.

World Food Prize Foundation representative Mr. Jon Wogman commended Sierra Leone commitment, noting Feed Salone progress infrastructure, markets, food systems.

Judges panel assessment, Komeh David Issa Murialdo Secondary School Lunsar and Aminata F.K. Kabba Services Secondary School Freetown emerged finalists.

Deputy Minister I Dr. Isata Kamanda moderated programme. Deputy Minister II Ing. Bryan Smart-Kanu presented certificates participants; Minister Kpaka presented finalists.

World Bank-funded Food System Resilience Programme (FSRP) supported event emphasising youth investment agricultural transformation.
