Minister Demby Boosts Healthcare Delivery with Equipment Donation to Kenema Government Hospital.

In a significant step toward strengthening healthcare services in Sierra Leone, the Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, today officially handed over a suite of modern medical and logistical equipment to the Kenema Government Hospital.

The items presented include a state-of-the-art CT Scan machine, an advanced ultrasound machine, a 38-seater staff bus, and a Land Cruiser vehicle all aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency at one of the country’s key regional hospitals.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby described the handover as part of the government’s broader commitment to improving access to quality healthcare across the country. He emphasized that the addition of modern diagnostic tools such as the CT scan and ultrasound machines will significantly improve early detection and management of diseases, ultimately saving lives.

“This investment reflects our resolve to ensure that no Sierra Leonean is left behind when it comes to accessing quality healthcare services,” Dr. Demby stated. “Facilities like Kenema Government Hospital play a critical role in serving large populations, and it is our duty to equip them with the tools they need to perform effectively.”

The Minister further noted that the staff bus will ease transportation challenges faced by healthcare workers, while the Land Cruiser vehicle will support outreach services and emergency response, especially in hard-to-reach communities.

The Medical Suprintendent, Kenema Government Hospital Dr. Abdulai Tijan Jalloh, expressed appreciation for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention. They highlighted that the CT scan machine, in particular, will reduce the need for patient referrals to distant facilities, saving both time and costs for patients and their families.

This latest development aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to transform the health sector, improve service delivery, and achieve universal health coverage in Sierra Leone.
