Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs Bids Farewell to Chief Director, Sinnah.

The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, in collaboration with its partners, held a farewell ceremony in honour of the Ministry's Chief Director, Mr Joseph Sunday Sinnah in recognition of his remarkable leadership and dedicated service.

 The event took place today at the Ministry’s headquarters in Freetown.

The gathering was graced by several dignitaries, including the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi; Permanent Secretary, Aminata Y. Sannoh; Deputy Secretary, Andrew A.B. Kamara; Deputy Chief Director, Charles Vandi; Director of Children’s Affairs, Mrs. Joyce B. Kamara; Director of Planning and Policy, Ibrahim Kamara; Director of Gender, Goodie Sowonie; Assistant Directors; Senior Protection Officers; Deputy Commissioner for the National Commission for Children (NCC), Henry Sheku; representatives from the Women’s Forum Network; and president of the Children’s Forum Network (CFN), Philipa Cride-Dole, among others.

The Deputy Secretary, Andrew A.B. Kamara, officially opened the event and welcomed attendees, noting the significance of the occasion in honouring Chief Director Sinnah’s tenure.

In a heartfelt tribute, CFN president, Philipa Cride-Dole described Mr Sinnah as a man of energy, passion, and unwavering commitment to championing the rights of children. She commended his consistent engagement and advocacy and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The NCC Commissioner also praised the Chief Director for his dedication, highlighting his resilience in tackling children’s issues and his consistent support to the commission.

Deputy Minister, . Hindowa Bindi reflected on his own experience working alongside Mr Sinnah, describing him as a brotherly figure, a motivator, and a true public servant.

“Since I joining the ministry, Chief Director Sinnah’s support and leadership have been an inspiration,” he remarked.

A representative from the Women’s Forum Network also commended Mr Sinnah for his unwavering support towards the empowerment of women and the protection of children.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing Chief Director, Permanent Secretary Aminata Y. Sannoh acknowledged Sinnah’s impactful contributions to the former Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs. She thanked him for his service and wished him well in the next chapter of his life.

In her closing remarks, Minister Dr. Isata Mahoi lauded Mr Sinnah for his “indefatigable stewardship,” praising his tireless efforts and unshakable commitment to the Ministry, even during difficult times. “Mr. Sinnah is a passionate and dependable leader,” she said. “He has always availed himself as a wise counsel to this Ministry, and for that, we are truly grateful.”

The farewell ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Director of Children’s Affairs, Mrs. Joyce B. Kamara.
