Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs convened Maiden meeting with the National Committee on GVB (NaC-GVB).

The Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs geared towards a preliminary discussion with the National Committee on Gender-Based Violence. The discussion includes collaboration, partnership, visions, and sharing meaningful impacts towards ending GBV nationwide.
Representatives from different ministries were in attendance. Bamie Sesay, Assistant Director from the gender directorate stated the importance of tackling SGVB cases in the country and the effectiveness of the committee group to collaborate in handling these cases.
The Deputy Chief Director Charles Vandi gave an overview of the meeting and the importance of policy making from various institutional heads and stated that these heads must be the benchmark for robust policies, laws, and measures that will streamline GVB response cases. "We need to be steadfast in our policy decision making". Vandi noted. He concluded by sharing the GVB Terms of reference (ToR) to participants for this year's agenda.
He led the review of the ToR in which participants critically reviewed the ToR. The National Coordinator for SGBV response Ramatu Kargbo, narrated on the various components of national SGBV response systems such as the One stop Centres, the 116 hotline for rape, capacity building on GBV case management, the standard operating procedure, and the referral pathway with the GBVIMS+ system which is being established in 3 districts.
She reaffirmed schemes that will scale up six districts in the first quarter and the establishment of landmark developments nationwide prior to the end of 2025. She echoed the repository developed for participants which are accessible to them.
At the climax of the discussion, participants made meaningful impacts and suggested ways of tackling SGVB cases across the country. In the ToR agenda, proposals include scaling up the policies that alien with GVB, incorporating other organizations from the gender wing that will amplify the Ministry's efforts to end GVB, and individual responsibilities from development partners to streamline and strengthen the enforcement of Gender-based Violence laws.
The meeting ended in a general discussion about strategies and implementation plans for the GVB agenda for 2025, thereby creating a benchmark to tackle and end SGVB cases in the country.
