Sierra Leone Scales Up Mpox Awareness & Community Action!

In response to the Government of Sierra Leone’s call, UNICEF is investing in Mpox awareness raising and active case search through support for Training of Trainers () and cascade training of Community Health Workers and Community Animal Health Workers in Western Area Urban, Western Area Rural , Bo, Moyamba, Port Loko, Bombali, Tonkolili, and Karene districts.

As at today, 16th March 2025, TOT has been conducted for all districts.

Bo, Karene, and Port Loko have conducted the cascade training.

The training focuses on promoting Community-Led Action (CLA) ;Enhancing community surveillance and awareness of Mpox, and Boosting community participation in contact tracing.

This collaboration is strengthening frontline capacity and empowering communities to stop the spread of Mpox through early detection, local engagement, and timely response.

Together, we are protecting lives!
