The National Malaria Control Programme and the Health Education Programme of the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with World Vision, successfully hosted a two-day meeting Dohas Hotel in BoDistric.

The event brought together religious leaders, journalists, bloggers, and social media firms to explore innovative ways to leverage social media and digital technology for malaria prevention and control.

Objectives and Key Discussions

The primary goal of the engagement was to raise awareness by utilizing the influential voices of religious leaders and digital media professionals to educate communities about malaria prevention measures, symptoms, and treatments.

During the discussions, participants:

 Explored strategies to use social media for effective health messaging.

 Highlighted the role of religious leaders in spreading malaria awareness within their congregations.

 Discussed the importance of accurate media reporting on malaria prevention and treatment.

Outcomes and Next Steps

The engagement reinforced the commitment of all stakeholders to strengthening digital health communication in malaria prevention. Moving forward, religious leaders and media professionals pledged to incorporate malaria awareness messages into their platforms and community outreach efforts.

The Ministry of Health and World Vision will continue to collaborate with key stakeholders to sustain these efforts, ensuring that accurate and impactful malaria prevention messages reach communities across Sierra Leone.
