Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, co-chaired a high-level roundtable at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), held in Seville, Spain. The session, which he co-led alongside the President of Estonia, Mr. Alar Karis, focused on “Mobilizing and Aligning Domestic Public Resources for Sustainable Development.
In his opening remarks, VP Jalloh underscored the urgent need for effective taxation systems, enhanced regional trade, and strong accountability mechanisms to boost domestic revenue mobilization across developing nations. He stressed that internal resources are the cornerstone for financing critical sectors, including health, education, renewable energy, and women’s empowerment.
“Strengthening our internal systems is not only a matter of financial sustainability—it’s a matter of national sovereignty and inclusive development,” VP Jalloh noted in a Facebook post following the session.
The roundtable convened global leaders, development partners, and policy experts who shared practical insights and reaffirmed the importance of domestic resource mobilization in building resilient and self-reliant economies.
VP Jalloh extended his appreciation to President Karis and fellow participants for what he described as “vibrant discussions and pragmatic recommendations" aimed at advancing shared development goals in an increasingly dynamic global economic environment.
