Youth Minister Champions Digital Pathways for Sierra Leone's Future on Africa Youth Day 2024.

In celebration of Africa Youth Day 2024, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, in partnership with key organizations, gathered young leaders to explore the theme "Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development." The event underscored the transformative role of technology in empowering Sierra Leone's youth for a sustainable future.

Chaired by former AYV News presenter Samuel Wise Bangura, the event saw notable figures such as Deputy Minister Patrick M. Gibrilla, Chief Director Charles Moinina, and representatives from youth organizations across Sierra Leone. Youth Affairs Minister Mohamed Orman Bangura delivered a stirring keynote address, urging young people to engage actively in personal and community growth.

"The future of Sierra Leone lies in the hands of its youth," Minister Bangura stated. "Your resilience, creativity, and commitment are vital to our nation's progress. Embrace digital skills, channel your energy toward innovation, and contribute to sustainable development."

Minister Bangura announced significant resources to support youth-driven businesses and community projects, including 200 tricycles and 50 boats for small business initiatives. "These are investments in your future," he said, emphasizing the government's commitment to tackle unemployment through youth empowerment.

A young attendee voiced concerns about unemployment and limited skill-building opportunities during the event. Minister Bangura acknowledged these challenges, assuring the audience of ongoing efforts to create structures to unlock youth potential across Sierra Leone.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among Sierra Leone's youth, inspired by the government's commitment to nurturing their potential. Africa Youth Day 2024 was a powerful reminder of the critical role of digital pathways and collaborative initiatives in driving sustainable progress.
