AfDB Executive Director, Sierra Leone Finance Minister Strengthen Development Ties.

African Development Bank Executive Director Dr. Elsiddig Mohamed Rahma paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura Monday at his George Street office. The high-level meeting signalled renewed momentum in the Bank's engagement with Sierra Leone and four other member states under his portfolio.

Dr. Rahma, representing Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia, The Gambia, and Sudan, arrived for a two-day working visit aimed at strengthening dialogue with member countries. Since assuming office, he has prioritized visiting nations under his constituency to assess development landscapes, understand economic performance, and enhance institutional cooperation.

"This engagement provides valuable insight into Sierra Leone's development trajectory," Dr. Rahma noted. "Understanding national priorities firsthand enables the Bank to align its support more effectively."

Minister Bangura congratulated Dr. Rahma on his new role and reaffirmed Sierra Leone's commitment to ongoing programmes supported by the AfDB. He described the Bank as a longstanding and critical development partner, working alongside institutions like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The Minister highlighted recent economic gains, including improved inflation control, reduced deficits, better interest rate management, and strengthened domestic revenue mobilisation. He outlined government priorities under the Big Five Game Changers and discussed opportunities for aligning the Bank's project portfolio with these national objectives.

Deputy Finance Minister 1, Kadiatu Allie, expressed appreciation for the AfDB's longstanding partnership across multiple development sectors. She welcomed the Executive Director's commitment to strengthening collaboration.

Dr. Rahma's visit continues with scheduled engagements across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, reinforcing the Bank's dedication to understanding and supporting Sierra Leone's development agenda.
