Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs Philip Tetemah Tondoneh delivered on January 21, 2026 his statement during a National Commission for Democracy (NCD) program. The event, “Activation of the Citizens’ Platform for Political Tolerance,” coincided with Sierra Leone’s inaugural National Day of Remembrance for victims of the eleven-year civil war.

The conference hall at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education hosted diverse attendees including representatives from the Political Parties Registration Commission, Inter-Religious Council, youth groups, Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, Tripartite Secretariat, war veterans, and wounded citizens gathered for the dialogue.

Deputy Minister Tondoneh identified colonial legacy's lasting impact on national public administration. He linked this history to persistent systemic marginalization, discrimination, and bureaucratic inefficiencies.

He marked Sierra Leone’s democratic transition as a foundational period of hope and resilience. Such reform, he argued, is the cornerstone of a just, tolerant, and inclusive society.

Hon. Tondoneh stressing the collective imperative to address both historical legacies and contemporary challenges a fundamental duty for public administration moving forward.
