German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali Radovan, paid a courtesy call on Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the event which took place on the 23rd January 23, 2026. Their high-level discussion centered on tangible development impacts and a shared vision for sustainable growth.
Vice President Juldeh Jalloh welcomed the German delegation, expressing appreciation for their firsthand assessment of community projects. He reflected on Germany’s steadfast support during Sierra Leone’s post-conflict recovery, noting how cooperation in rehabilitation and infrastructure solidified active bilateral relations. The Vice President stated this visit reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to walking alongside Sierra Leone in implementing key development initiatives.
He detailed significant progress in education, women’s empowerment, and healthcare core areas for improving citizen wellbeing. Achievements include increased social sector investment, reduced maternal mortality, expanded quality healthcare access, and mobile health services reaching communities. These efforts, he emphasized, place people—particularly women and vulnerable groups—at the heart of a shared development vision, with commitments to achieve even more.
Minister Radovan expressed delight visiting Sierra Leone, stressing the importance of witnessing national progress firsthand since the civil war and throughout pandemic challenges. She commended the government’s “Big Five Agenda,” highlighting achievements in security, women’s health, education, and youth empowerment. The Minister praised collaborative efforts between both governments and partners like the World Food Programme.
She underscored a partnership built on shared goals and mutual commitment to sustainable development. Eager to continue supporting national reforms, Minister Radovan noted her visit signals a renewed commitment to deepening cooperation. She concluded by thanking the Vice President and Sierra Leoneans for their warm welcome, expressing optimism for future collaboration critical to the nation’s social and economic growth.
