MBSSE Launches Investigation into Alleged Fake WASSCE Registration Slips.

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has launched a formal investigation into reports of fraudulent registration practices involving the issuance of fake Batch Registration System (BRS) slips to students preparing for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in New England Ville, Minister Conrad Sackey expressed grave concern over allegations implicating certain school officials in the production and distribution of counterfeit registration slips. He confirmed that any school heads found to be culpable will be referred to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for a thorough investigation and potential legal action.

“These are grave allegations, and the Ministry will not tolerate actions that undermine the integrity of our education system and the future of our children,” Minister Sackey stated. “We are working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.”

Chief Education Officer Edward Kpara disclosed that the Ministry had received multiple reports indicating that some school administrators had collected money from unsuspecting parents, falsely claiming it was for the official registration of their children for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Upon verification, it was discovered that many of the affected students had not been registered with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Mr. Kpara further noted that attempts by some school officials to shift blame to WAEC are unfounded, as internal audits have revealed clear evidence of administrative misconduct at the school level.

In response to the revelations, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability across the education sector. Officials emphasised that all students affected by the fraudulent activities will be identified, and necessary support measures will be explored.

The Ministry urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity related to examination registration to the appropriate authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
