Minister Bah Explores Civic Education Partnership During Visit to U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., this morning for a private tour and discussions on forging a strategic partnership with the institution.

The visit offered Minister Bah a firsthand experience of the Museum’s powerful exhibitions, which chronicle the roots and consequences of the Holocaust- hatred, misinformation, and dehumanization, as well as the dangers of silence and apathy in the face of fascist authoritarianism.

Speaking after the tour, Minister Bah described the exhibitions as “moving, shattering, and deeply impactful,” noting their relevance to Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to build an informed and engaged citizenry.

“These exhibits are a reminder of the very possibility of evil and the importance of memory, history, and active citizenship,” said Bah. “As we advance President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for a peaceful, democratic Sierra Leone, this partnership will strengthen our work in civic education and public engagement.”

The proposed collaboration will focus on developing educational initiatives to promote tolerance, human rights, and democratic values, helping Sierra Leone guard against the forces of hate and division.
