In a proactive move to improve the accountability and effectiveness of youth development interventions, the newly appointed Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, paid a working visit to the National Monitoring and Evaluation Agency of Sierra Leone. The visit underscored the Ministry's renewed focus on establishing comprehensive mechanisms for tracking, monitoring, and evaluating youth-funded initiatives across government institutions and development partners.
During the engagement, Minister Sannoh raised critical concerns regarding the existing gap between financial investments in the youth sector and the actual outcomes experienced by young beneficiaries. “We must address the pressing questions surrounding the allocation of funds and ensure that every dollar spent translates into meaningful change in the lives of our youth,” he stated.
The Minister further advocated for a consolidated and centralised approach to youth sector financing. He emphasised that a unified funding and reporting framework would not only improve coordination but also minimise the duplication of projects and ensure that resources are effectively targeted. “By creating a unified framework, we can enhance accountability and maximise the impact of our interventions,” he added.
Minister Sannoh’s visit signals his commitment to a results-driven transformation of Sierra Leone’s youth sector. His vision aims to ensure that all investments made toward youth development translate into sustainable empowerment, employment, and long-term national growth.
