MTCA leads national reception for Miss World contestant Mariyam Lorbo Konneh.
Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA), representing the Government and people of Sierra Leone, leads planning for a grand homecoming reception for Miss World Sierra Leone 2026, Mariyam Lorbo Konneh, following commendable Miss World Beauty Pageant participation in Vietnam.
The homecoming celebration brings together government officials, diplomatic community members, cultural performers, youth groups, tourism stakeholders, and well-wishers nationwide to celebrate a young woman carrying the national flag with dignity, confidence, and grace on the on the international stage.
Representing Sierra Leone among more than one hundred of the world's most accomplished young women, Mariyam Lorba Konneh distinguished herself through elegance, intelligence, cultural pride, and social cause commitment. Her participation showcased Sierra Leone's rich cultural heritage, highlighting the country's growing profile for beauty, resilience, and opportunity.
Ministry Tourism Cultural Affairs expressed profound gratitude for the beauty queen's outstanding national representation. Ministry extended heartfelt appreciation to Mariyam Lorbo Konneh for serving as an exceptional country ambassador, representing Sierra Leone with honour, humility, confidence, and patriotism, demonstrating national values and aspirations before a global audience.

We celebrate her achievements, eagerly welcoming home a distinguished ambassador." A university student described her as "determination and self-confidence, a symbol carrying Sierra Leone pride." Eastern Police market trader praised her humility and grace, noting her performance gave Sierra Leoneans "another world stage celebration reason." Bo youth leader noted Mariyam's competition appearance demonstrated Sierra Leonean women competing confidently anywhere.
Tourism stakeholders welcomed international visibility generated through participation, emphasising that every global platform presents an opportunity to showcase Sierra Leone's culture, hospitality, and tourism potential.
