Sierra Leone, Guinea Agree on Follow-Up Mechanisms on Migration, Border Security and Trade.

Vice-President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh says both countries have agreed on fresh follow-up mechanisms tackling migration, border security and trade concerns. Guinea's Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah hosted these talks. The two governments will establish technical structures implementing the Tripartite Border Security Communiqué signed 26 March 2026.

Dr Juldeh Jalloh disclosed this while updating the Sierra Leonean community at the embassy in Conakry. He said the mechanisms would provide a structured platform to resolve challenges affecting Sierra Leoneans living in Guinea, strengthen border security cooperation and ensure commitments reached by the three countries are followed through.

He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to register with the embassy and obtain consular identification cards, while urging them to respect Guinean laws and regulations.

The visit also reinforced discussions on trade and economic cooperation, with both sides seeking closer collaboration to facilitate commerce, investment and industrialisation. Dr Juldeh Jalloh said stronger institutional engagement would help address practical issues affecting businesses and citizens while deepening relations between the two neighbours.

The vice-president travelled with Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education; Morie Lengor, Minister of Internal Affairs; Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Minister of Labour and Social Security; and Jeneba Bangura, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The engagement, which drew Sierra Leoneans from across the diaspora community, was organised by Sierra Leone's Ambassador to Guinea, Foday Yumkella, and Deputy Ambassador Fatmata Sawaneh.
