Sierra Leone’s VP Calls for Bold Financing Reforms to Empower Africa’s Future.

Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, delivering a powerful call for financing reforms to unlock Africa’s development potential at a high-level side event during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4).

The session, hosted by Global Citizen Now, brought together influential voices to discuss strategies for sustainable growth in developing nations.

In his remarks, Dr. Jalloh underscored the urgent need for innovative and resilient financing models that go beyond traditional aid.

He cautioned against the shrinking pool of development assistance and the growing inequalities that may worsen if reforms are not enacted.

Hon. VP Jalloh emphasized the importance of building strong regulatory, financial, and governance frameworks to attract private investment.

“I encouraged countries to learn from Sierra Leone’s experience and create systems where private capital and development aid work hand-in-hand,” he stated.

Dr. Jalloh’s message was well-received by fellow panelists, including Gates Foundation CEO Mark Suzman, who echoed the need for equitable investment models that prioritize local ownership and long-term impact.

Throughout his presentation, the Vice President highlighted the real-world stakes of financing decisions—especially in education, healthcare, and youth employment. His message was one of hope grounded in realism, advocating for dignity, self-reliance, and genuine global partnerships.

By presenting Sierra Leone’s journey as a practical model, VP Jalloh moved the conversation from policy to practice. He reminded global leaders that Africa does not simply need funding—it needs fairness, visionary leadership, and the opportunity to shape its own destiny.
