Sulima Shines as Culture and Creativity Weekend Boosts Tourism Drive.

The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs concluded its successful three-day Culture and Creativity Weekend Getaway at Sulima Beach, Pujehun District, spotlighting one of the nation's most spectacular yet underexplored coastal treasures.

The strategic initiative, an event which took place on February 13-15, 2026, in Pujehun District, advances domestic tourism promotion while positioning diverse Sierra Leonean destinations for international recognition. The National Tourist Board, Monuments and Relics Commission, and key sector partners joined forces, demonstrating unified commitment to tourism development along this pristine shoreline near the Liberian border.

Minister Nabeela Farida Tunis officially opened festivities against Sulima's breathtaking backdrop of golden sands stretching over 40 kilometers alongside rolling Atlantic waves. She delivered a call highlighting the government's dedication to showcasing unique destinations while actively encouraging hospitality investments spanning guest houses, hotels, and marine transport services. Her message resonated clearly: tourism development demands collective national effort and shared responsibility.

Sulima erupted into vibrant celebration across two exhilarating days as creativity and community spirit merged along the beachfront. Attendees enjoyed relaxed coastal interactions, spontaneous beachside moments, and electrifying performances from Sierra Leone's finest cultural ambassadors. The National Dance Troupe captivated audiences, the Sierra Leone Acrobat amazed spectators, and the Reggae Union delivered soul-stirring rhythms. Rich gastronomic offerings tantalized taste buds, presenting authentic local cuisine and strengthening Sierra Leone's culinary tourism credentials.

Morning tranquillity descended upon Sulima through revitalizing beachside yoga sessions promoting holistic wellness as essential destination experiences. Community engagement reached a fever pitch during spirited friendly football matches between Ministry staff and local "Sand Boys," fostering genuine connections beyond tourism initiatives. Evening skies ignited with spectacular performances from Star Zee, Amie Kallon, Speedo, Bobby, Apreel, and other electrifying acts, sustaining the cultural celebration's momentum well into starlit nights.

The Culture and Creativity Weekend ultimately showcased culture-driven tourism's remarkable potential for national transformation. Strategic investment in local creatives, meaningful community engagement, and Sulima's natural splendour reinforced Sierra Leone's authentic destination identity. Beyond celebration, this landmark event delivered an unmistakable message championing resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable tourism sector growth for future generations.
