Vice President Hands Over Staff Bus and Utility Vehicle to Boost Health Services in Kono.

Sierra Leone Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh gave Koidu Government Hospital one 56-seater staff bus plus one utility land cruiser yesterday. This gesture, executed on behalf of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio targets improved working conditions for medical personnel.

The ceremony unfolded within hospital grounds, drawing local authorities, frontline workers, and community members. Attendees welcomed this intervention as a timely catalyst for better clinical delivery across this eastern region.

Addressing the gathering, Vice President Jalloh stressed administration commitment toward strengthening healthcare. He noted that enhanced staff welfare remains essential for delivering quality medical care nationwide. These vehicles will solve transport challenges facing employees, boost punctuality, and raise overall service efficiency.

This initiative forms part of broader sector reforms led by Health Minister Dr. Austin Demby. His leadership continuously prioritizes better working environments for clinical employees across the country. Dr. Demby’s efforts focus on equipping hospitals, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring adequate support for frontline workers to perform duties effectively.

Dr. Ian Wurie, a medical superintendent at Koidu Government Hospital, expressed gratitude for this donation. He explained that transportation difficulties have long challenged personnel commuting from distant communities. The newly commissioned 56-seater bus will significantly reduce such constraints, while the Land Cruiser supports administrative tasks and outreach operations.

This handover marks another milestone in ongoing government efforts to transform clinical services, ensuring quality healthcare accessible to every Sierra Leonean, regardless of location.
