In an address to over 1,200 graduating students at the Eastern Technical University in Kenema, Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, redefined leadership as a personal mission built on character. Speaking at the fourth convocation ceremony of Eastern Technical University, he inspired the next generation to move beyond opportunity and embrace responsibility.
Reflecting on the institution's evolution from a polytechnic, Dr. Jalloh expressed deep pride in its growth. “I was part of that transition,” he shared, conveying congratulations on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio. The moment was not just a celebration—it was a testament to national progress.
The Vice President acknowledged the government's strategic investments in education and economic sectors, designed to create pathways for skills, jobs, and capital. Yet he presented a crucial distinction: “Access alone does not make a leader.”
“True leadership is crafted through commitment, sacrifice, respect, integrity, and honesty in all you do,” he told the captivated audience. His message was clear: credentials open doors, but character defines impact.
Looking to the future, Dr. Jalloh posed a compelling challenge to the graduates: “How will you link your knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and social values to the opportunities ahead? This fusion will determine the leaders you become.”
Reaffirming the government's unwavering commitment, he highlighted President Bio's conviction that “education is the foundation for Sierra Leone’s development.” For every graduate present, he painted a horizon brimming with possibility a world of opportunities waiting to be shaped by their vision, ethics, and action.
The ceremony concluded on a note of optimism, framing the convocation not as an end, but as the beginning of a purposeful journey toward leadership that serves and transforms.
