Youth Ministry and National Cybersecurity Center Partner to Train 2,000 Young Sierra Leoneans.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, led by Minister Ibrahim Sannoh, has entered into a new strategic partnership with the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCCC), aimed at training and empowering approximately 2,000 young people in the field of cybersecurity. The agreement was formalized following a meeting between Minister Sannoh and the National Cybersecurity Coordinator, Mrs. Mariama Yormah, as part of ongoing efforts to expand employment opportunities and equip Sierra Leonean youth with 21st-century skills.

Minister Sannoh emphasized the growing importance of cybersecurity in the nation’s development. “As we navigate an increasingly digital world, it is imperative that our youth are equipped with the necessary skills to protect our nation’s cyber infrastructure. This collaboration is a vital step towards ensuring that our young people are not only employable but also capable of contributing to the security of our digital landscape,” he stated.

Mrs. Mariama Yormah echoed the Minister’s remarks, stressing that cybersecurity is central to national security and economic growth. “Cybersecurity is not just a technical field; it is a critical area that affects every aspect of our society. By investing in the training of our youth, we are not only creating job opportunities but also fostering a generation that can safeguard our nation’s future,” she noted.

The joint initiative between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center represents a significant investment in Sierra Leone’s digital future. It promises to equip young people with cutting-edge skills increasingly in demand both domestically and internationally, while also strengthening national resilience against growing cyber threats.
