NaCSA Launches Youth Jobs and Green Development Drive in Bo District.

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has officially launched the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) Project in Bo District, as part of a broader national effort to boost youth employment and drive environmental sustainability through the Green Public Works (GPW) program.
The high-level event, which marked a major milestone in Sierra Leone’s social and environmental development agenda, brought together senior stakeholders including NaCSA Commissioner Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Senior Director for Social Protection Idris Turay, and NaCSA Board Chairman Mohamed E.K. Allie. Local authorities such as His Worship Mayor Komba Musa of Bo, Deputy Mayor of Kenema Rugiatu S. Kororma, and Mayor of Bonthe Mohamed M. Robinson also attended the commissioning ceremony.
In his welcome remarks, Mayor Musa applauded NaCSA’s unwavering dedication to community transformation and its support for grassroots-led development. He emphasized the value of collaboration in ensuring project sustainability.
Kenema's Deputy Mayor Rugiatu S. Kororma described the GPW initiative as a cornerstone for environmental transformation and youth empowerment. She commended NaCSA for engaging regional communities and fostering inclusive development.
Bonthe Mayor Mohamed M. Robinson praised President Bio’s leadership and the proactive work of NaCSA in addressing rural challenges. He noted that the agency has significantly contributed to solving key issues in Bonthe, including unemployment and access to basic social services. "With NaCSA, everything is possible," he affirmed.
Chairman Bondowa added his voice in applauding NaCSA’s commitment to improving environmental conditions and livelihood opportunities through the PSSNYE project.
NaCSA Board Chairman Mohamed E.K. Allie reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting local councils in line with its national mandate. He called for stronger stakeholder collaboration to scale up the impact of such initiatives.
Senior Director, Idris Turay outlined the project’s focus areas, which include drainage clearing, tree planting, and broader environmental protection. He stressed that the PSSNYE initiative is a sustainable solution to unemployment, environmental degradation, and social vulnerability.
Delivering the keynote address, Commissioner Ndomahina reiterated NaCSA’s alignment with President Bio’s vision to tackle rural development challenges. He announced the creation of 3,000 jobs across regions like Port Loko, Makeni, Kono, and Bonthe, and highlighted the nationwide tree-planting campaign, with 65,000 trees targeted—Bo and Port Loko being among the primary beneficiaries.
He concluded by thanking NaCSA staff, local authorities, and community stakeholders for their ongoing commitment to national progress.
