One Nation Reggae Festival Fuels Creative Village, Hurricane Relief & National Revenue.

Freetown, Sierra Leone-The groundbreaking One Nation Reggae Festival has transcended its role as a cultural showcase to become a powerful engine for economic and social investment. At a press conference on January 7, 2026, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, unveiled how the festival's proceeds are being strategically channeled into three key areas: nurturing local talent, providing international humanitarian aid, and bolstering national revenue.

Minister Tunis announced the allocation of 767,100 NLe for the establishment of a Creative Village, a dedicated hub to foster Sierra Leonean artistic talent. In a gesture of global solidarity, USD 10,000 has been donated for Hurricane Melissa relief efforts in Jamaica. Furthermore, a direct contribution of 230,130 NLe has been made to the National Revenue Authority, underscoring the event's role in national economic development.

The six-day festival, conceived to fuse Sierra Leonean and Caribbean heritage, successfully positioned the country as a emerging hub for world-class cultural events. It featured dynamic performances, workshops, and unprecedented collaboration between local and international artists. "The festival demonstrates what can be achieved when government, private sector, and community collaborate," stated Minister Tunis, praising the professionalism and preparation of Sierra Leonean performers.

The Minister highlighted that the event's success aligns with President Julius Maada Bio's agenda for creativity, innovation, and sustainable transformation. She emphasized that the financial outcomes represent more than just revenue they are a strategic investment in the nation's creative future, economic growth, and enduring cultural legacy.
