VP Juldeh Jalloh Commissions New Aberdeen Police Headquarters, Highlights Human-Centred Reforms.

Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on Friday, 13th November 2025, commissioned the new Aberdeen Police Headquarters, describing it as a major boost to community policing and public safety in one of Freetown’s busiest areas.

Addressing Government officials, Police Leaders, and Community Members, he noted that the new facility marked significant progress from 2018, when inadequate resources and aging infrastructure hampered policing efforts. He said the new station reflects the administration’s commitment to modernising the force.

VP Juldeh Jalloh highlighted broader reforms that have strengthened officer welfare and professionalism, including improved salaries, expanded training opportunities, and merit-based promotions that reward leadership, emotional intelligence, and respectful public engagement.

He emphasised that effective policing relies on service, integrity, and trust. He also applauded the growing number of trained female officers, describing their advancement as a sign of a more inclusive and forward-looking institution.

The Vice President further commended the police leadership for upgrading mobility, communication systems, and operational coordination across the Aberdeen–Lumley corridor.

He noted that the new building would support faster response times and help foster stronger relationships between officers and community members.

Thanking officers for their dedication, he said the station should be a place where citizens feel safe, respected, and heard.

Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, expressed gratitude for what he described as unprecedented government support over the past decade.

He recalled that working conditions were far more challenging ten years ago and described the new headquarters as a model for modern policing infrastructure.

He added that several newly constructed and refurbished police stations across the country would soon be commissioned.

Internal Affairs Minister, AIG (Rtd.) Morie Lengor, commended the police leadership for renewed discipline, improved public trust, and the shift toward a more service-oriented policing culture.

He said the new station aligns with the President’s vision for institutional reform and provides officers with a dignified and modern workspace.

He encouraged citizens to cooperate with the police and reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to ensure national safety at all times.

Local Unit Commander, Cline Thomas thanked the Vice President, the Minister, the Inspector General, and community partners for supporting the project. She stated that the new headquarters would strengthen operations along the Aberdeen–Lumley corridor and pledged that officers would safeguard the facility while upholding professionalism, discipline, and community-focused policing.a
