ANME invites 105 journalist to Morocco for the AFCON and to Explore Cultural Heritage.

In a significant initiative aimed at fostering continental unity and cultural exchange, Morocco's National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME) has extended an invitation to 105 journalists from across Africa. The program, scheduled from December 21st, 2025, to January 22nd, 2026, is strategically timed to coincide with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

As one of Morocco's largest media organizations, ANME designed this immersive experience to transcend conventional sports reporting, positioning it instead as a deep dive into the nation's rich historical tapestry and contemporary vitality.

The core ambition of this month-long endeavor is to strengthen professional networks among African media practitioners while promoting a more nuanced understanding of Morocco's identity. According to ANME, the initiative is fundamentally about relationship-building; it seeks to create a robust editorial network across the continent and facilitate a shared narrative of cultural appreciation.

While the excitement of AFCON provides a dynamic backdrop, the primary focus is on exhibiting the Kingdom's profound cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and renowned hospitality to a pan-African audience and the wider world.

The program commenced with an official welcoming dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Casablanca, where ANME President Driss Chahtane personally greeted the attendees. In his remarks, he emphasized the dual nature of their visit, stating, "You are welcome to explore the Kingdom of Morocco, both its football and its cultural heritages." Following the reception, journalists embarked on curated excursions to iconic cities such as the historic port of Tangier and the captivating city of Marrakech. These tours were specifically designed to offer firsthand experiences of the nation's architectural wonders, bustling markets, and cultural sites, embodying the spirit of Moroccan hospitality.

Logistically, the visiting journalists were divided into three coordinated groups to ensure an optimal experience. The first group consisted of 38 individuals, the second of 34, and the final group of 33. This final cohort is presently in Morocco, completing their itinerary before their scheduled departure from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca on January 22nd, 2026.

Through this well-organized visit, ANME aspires to leave a lasting impression, hoping that the journalists will return to their home countries not only with stories of sporting prowess but with enduring narratives of cultural connection and shared heritage.
